The Bible, a Very Special Book.
The goal of this Bible study lesson is the same reason Luke gives for writing his book, “so that you may know the certainty of the things you have been taught.” (Luke 1:4). As kids begin forming their own faith apart from their parents it is imperative we give them a firm base. Confidence in the source of the information used in forming their faith is essential.
This is a two page lesson plan with leaders guide. A lot of information was gleaned out of Josh McDowell's book show above and The Navigators study guide shown below.
This is a great series of Bible Study booklets from The Navigators. The questions and subjects are great for making your own lessons for a teenage Sunday school class. I used some ideas from this book for the Sunday School lesson above.

This is a one page lesson plan with leaders guide. For a pre-lesson activity we play a few hands of the board game Monopoly. I renamed the titles of the squares to things like Money, friends, video game, etc. Better yet, buy the electronic game for your Wii. It's actually fun.

Bibleopoly Game With Bibleopoly, you can enjoy the fun of a property trading game while learning about the remarkable cities of the Bible! Start "In the Beginning", and travel through biblical cites of Meditation, Community Celebration, and occasionally the Abyss! You can earn a Cornerstone by helping a fellow player, or but doing community service, and make offerings in order to earn the bricks and steeple you need to build a church. Watch out for the "Go Meditate" spot on the board, though--you'll lose three turns! Also, though good deeds are rewarded, sometimes "Faith Cards" intervene. Recommended for 2 to 6 players, ages 8 to adult. |
The goal of this youth Bible study is to demonstrate the slow degradation of our ideas of right and wrong when we plunge in to societies norms without the knowledge of scripture as a foundation. We demonstrate the change in our attitudes by looking at the changes in acceptable swim wear from 1920 to 1967.
I first wrote this lesson to show how violent video games deaden our sensitivity to killing and death. The boys in one youth group were incensed when I banned Halo and other violent games that my predecessor had played with them a lot, even setting up tournaments. Read more on my blog.
