Basic Christian Theology For Teens Page 9 |

The first half of the lesson is devoted to Jesus’ claim to be God. This is a unique claim of Christianity and must be a firm, unwavering aspect of a persons faith.
The second half of the lesson is devoted to firming up these truths that the resurrection affirms:
1. The resurrection confirms the truth and value of what Jesus taught and did.
2. Christ’s resurrection is the guarantee of our own resurrection.
3. Jesus is alive today, still in charge, and preparing a place for us.
4. He will come back to get us.
This is an excellent Easter lesson. It is a one page handout with leaders guide.
I also do "Peep Golf" as an activity before the lesson. |

The Case for Easter
By Lee Strobel / Zondervan
Priced to give away, this "investigation" into Christ's death answers three crucial questions seekers ask: Was Jesus' death a sham? Was his tomb really empty? Was he seen alive after his death on the cross? Strobel's award-winning skills as a legal journalist will persuade even the most hard-boiled skeptics to reconsider Jesus' death and resurrection. 95 pages, softcover from Willow. |
Right now just $1.99. Stock up and plan for an Easter give away. |

Know What You Beleive
Paul Little presents Christian beliefs in a very approachable manner. |
I used a lot of information from this book:
Know What You Believe, by Paul E. Little, Chariot Victor Publishing.
This book and it’s companion book, Know Why You Believe, are awesome guides for succinctly defining the Christian faith.
These books should be in every Christian leaders reference library.
Easter is more of a high point in the Christian calendar than Christmas. Easter has not be commercialized or secularly hijacked like Christmas. Celebrated Easter with correct teaching about Jesus, His death, and resurrection. |
Know Who You Beleive
Written for all Christians who must know Who it is they serve. |

Jesus: Dead or Alive? Evidence for the Resurrection, Teen Edition
By Josh McDowell & Sean McDowell / Gospel Light
Skeptical teens often question the reality of Christ's resurrection. This compelling examination provides them with the solid answers they seek! Focusing on the claims of the Gospel writers, the McDowells invite 11- to 15-year-olds to take a hard look at the evidence and discover for themselves the proof that Christ died---and is risen! 128 pages, softcover from Regal. |

This version of Apples To Apples has cards optimized for middle-school aged children.
|
The kids are ready for more than the simple answer -heaven. While this is true the Bible indicates there are several stages or events that take place before we arrive in the final heaven. Junior higher's and high school kids are eager for more details. This is still basic but it does give them some Biblically based theology to add to their beliefs about life after death.
This is a one page lesson plan with leaders guide. Pepper the blank reverse side of the lesson with photo's from class or your most recent outing. We play the Apples-to-Apples games as a pre-lesson activity. It reinforces the theme of judging mentioned in the lesson several times.
A good follow-up lesson is A New Heaven and Earth. |
I used this book by Erwin Lutzer for some information in this lesson.
To order a copy from Christian Book.com click on the book.
It is totally awesome (spellbinding actually). The book on CD is good too.
This topic is seldom talked about or taught even though it is crucial to the Christian faith. |

One Minute After You Die
By Erwin W. Lutzer
Someone you know is about to pass away. Will they enter delight? or horror? Many people spend more time planning for a vacation than preparing for eternity. Perhaps it doesn't seem real that we will still exist---fully conscious and alive---beyond the grave. But it's true, and it calls for careful consideration. In this updated edition of One Minute After You Die, Erwin Lutzer urges you to study what the Bible says on this critical subject. Topics include: - Can near-death experiences teach us anything about life after death?
- What does the Bible say about purgatory?
- What will heaven be like?
- Is it realistic to believe in hell?
How can we prepare for our own final moment? |

The Last Christian Generation.
Josh McDowell discusses the alarming amount of misinformation Christian kids believe today. | Know Your Enemy:
The Barna Research Group, in its 1999 survey entitle “Third Millennium Teens” found that 65% of Christian young people do not believe that Satan is a real entity. The goal of this lesson is to give young Christians some Biblical background about our enemy. We can learn a lot about Satan from the Bible. Once the enemy is exposed he looses a lot of his ability to trick us into sin.
To illustrate unseen things I used a portable stereo (boom box) that had a remote control. They believed the remote control was working the stereo even though they could not see the signals being sent. I used film clips from The Water Boy because I just crack up when Kathy Bates says, "DA DEBIL". There are also scenes showing the team reviewing training video showing how they study their opponents moves so they can win. This illustrates why we should be aware of the devils schemes. |

Discernment:
|
Reckless Faith: When The Church Loses Its Will To Discern
In a society that is hostile to anyone who declares absolutes, that tolerates faith in any form, that values emotion over reason and trendiness over conviction, it's no suprise that many American chuches have lost their ability to discern between biblical truth and doctrinal error. John MacArthur attempts to set them straight.

These are the most popular teen Bible study lessons on the website. Heaven, life after death, and the resurrection of Jesus are of major topics in youth ministry. Basic Christian Theology for teens is essential to the formation of their Christian faith. It may seem morbid but kids really want to know what the Bible teaches about what happens after you die. |
